Death penalty dropped, but was it even necessary?

This guy is clearly in custody and poses no threat to society, especially after being locked up for 2 decades and about to be sentenced to 25 more… so why does he have to be put to death by the government again?

Death penalty dropped against killer motivated by aliens

TUCSON, AZ – A bizarre Tucson murder case spanning two decades, including two trials, space aliens and a ruling by the US Supreme Court takes another twist. The Pima County Attorney’s office has dropped the death penalty against Robert Moody, convicted in 2002, a judge will now determine his sentence.

Supreme Court justice Napolitano?

Among those under consideration is Homeland Security Secretary and former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano. Others are Solicitor General Elena Kagan, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and U.S. Appeals Court judges Sonia Sotomayor and Diane Pamela Wood. California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno is also under review by Obama.

Is Arizona turning into a climate-change dropout?

Under former Gov. Janet Napolitano, the state took a leading role in a series of regional plans to reduce carbon dioxide and other pollutants believed to be responsible for global warming.

But in the three months since Napolitano left for a Cabinet position in the Obama administration, Republican leaders have branded the initiative anti-business and have introduced bills to block Arizona from adopting the plans.
